JCC empowers different communities in Somalia to overcome poverty by helping them to have better and reliable ways of producing food as well as the tools, seeds, knowledge, and training to become more self-sufficient and produce more food through more productive agriculture, vegetable gardens and livestock rearing.JCC supports vulnerable communities by providing pro-poor social services towards achieving the development Goals and by creating and enabling environment for reconstruction and development. It strives to increase local communities' income, improve their ability to manage natural resources, and prevent or mitigate the impact of disasters, both natural and man-made.
In 2005, in collaboration with World Vision International, JCC implemented seed distribution project in 13 riverine villages in Buale districts. The project, which was funded by HRF, provided enough viable seeds to flood affected communities. In early 2006, JCC jointly with WVI has implemented seed distribution project in Jilib and Saakow riverine and agro-pastoral villages.
In late 2006, JCC and COSV jointly implement small farmers’ support project in riverine areas of Bu’ale, Saakow and Salagle. The project provide assorted vegetable seeds, maize and cowpeas seed as and helped small farmers open up more than 3,000 hectares of land for cultivation.
