The effective reduction of water borne diseases and other diseases is contingent on a household’s or a community’s hygienic practices. Issues such as the washing of hands before the preparation of meals, before and after using latrines, before eating and before changing infants after they have soiled themselves always seem non-essential but in actual fact may be the key turning point in the total elimination of water borne diseases in the country. Towards this, JCC proactively and continually engages the community in ensuring that they adopt hygienic practices in all aspects of their livelihoods through hygiene promotion as well as distributing soaps while demonstrating proper usage.
